QB Pennington had an awful day even before the injury. I mean, throwing a 1 yard pass on 3rd and 3 is even ridicoulus fior him. He finished the day 8 of 12 for 54 yards, that's 4.5 yards an attempt and less than 7 yards a completion. I know he is not a deep passer but there is a limit. Henne got his first real action and we all saw why Pennington was the starter. Henne did not play well. He never threw downfield (Ginn's 2 drops did not help), as he finished 10 of 19 for 92 yards and an INT returned for a San Diego TD. D-
RB Obviously the Dolphins have aonly two real good players on offense. It's not one of the 155 million O-line (Care and Long are not elite). It's certainly not the QB or TE. Don't get me started on the WRs. Ricky and Ronnie are, by far, the best players on the roster. By far. Both are reallly really good players and they play well every week. This week Ricky played better than Ronnie. Ricky carried 8 times for 55 yards (6.9 average) and a TD. Ronnie added 75 on 18 carries. B
WR Another awful day all around. If David Martin wasn't on IR he would have been starting ahead of Fasano, way ahead of Anthony 3-catches-11-yards-2 fumbles-on-the-year Fasano. Ginn had zero catches, 2 drops and he was once open deep but Penny can't throw long very good. Camarillo had 2 catches for 13 yards. Meaning the starting 3 WRs and TE had a grand total of 13 yards. Bess had his 7 catch 54 yard routine. They were just awful. We know Ricky and Ronnie are the playmakers but they should contribute more than that. Ginn and Hartline combined for zero catches and 2 (two) offsides penalties. Offsides - By the WRs ! F
OL Again nothing special, Penny got injured because he was hit. They do have to hold blocks longer because the Fins don't have any WRs that can get open not named Bess and he is a up-to-10-yard WR. The run blocking was OK, especailly when they ran the wildcat. Then again, it's probably more Ricky and Ronnie than the O-line. C-
LB They started OK but Rivers had way to much time to throw. The run stopping is solid but that's because there is no pass defense. C-
DL The D-Line did not get to Rivers aside from one Langford sack. The run stopping was solid as always but who needs to run when the Dolphins have no pass rush and can not cover in the secondary. C+
Secondary They got burnt on two bombs, but tha't to be expected from Rivers. They played wellthe first half and collapsed in the second. But, they are certainly not to blame for this loss. Can the Dolphins really win a game against a good team scoring 13 point ? The defense gave up 16 points a gainst the Chargers and tha't a fine job. C-
Special teams Carpenter can't kickoff. His kicks are way too short. The onside kick didn't go the 10 yards. I mean, ten yards ? And dont get me started on the return game. As I said in the past it had nothing to do with the returner, Ginn, Cobbs whoever they put back there won't help with no blocking. At least Sproles didn't break a big one. C-
Coaching Sorry, I thought the play calling was awful, really awful. A 1 yard route on 3rd and 3 ? they didn't throw any pass for more than 10 yards aside from the first one. Running on 2nd and 15 ? The wildcat worked as always why not stick with it ? Why not try to pass out of it ? We were losing after all (and I'm not sure Brown isn't better than the Chads...) The Dolphins are 0-3 and the season is pretty much over adn we are in September... F
