QB Another great game for Pennigton. He was very very accurate as always completing 22 of 229 attempts for 228 yards and a TD with no INT. He doesn't do it like Marino did, throwing hard. He can't throw very hard but he has his style, touch passes over the middle, long drives. It does help to have Ronnie Brown on your team... A
RB Ronnie Brown right now is probably the best RB in the league, he can do everything running hard over people, making people miss breaking tackles, he is a one man offense. He finished with 24 rushes for 125 yards and a TD of a wildcat formation getting the direct snap from center. Ricky didn't have a great game 13 frushes for 39 yards but he did have a H-U-G-E block freeing Ronnie for his TD run, the block alone gets him an A. Ronnie is just perfect. A+
WR Ginn had 7 catches (55 yards), Camarillo had 6 (68 yards) with his first TD of the season. Bess also added another great 24 yard catch (he finished with 3 receptions) B
OL The run-blocking was solid (and they also benefited from having Ronnie). The pass blocking was mostly solid although some of the Chargers got way too close to Penny. B+
LB A monster day for Roth, he was all over the field finishing with 5 tackles including his second sack of the year. Porter added another half sack. This unit is playing better each week. The LT lead Chargers had only 10 points, they entered the game anked number one on offense. Crowder stopped LT on the goal line stand for his first memorable play in a while. B+
DL There were some runs I thought they could have done better on but they did play very well holding LT to just 35 yards on 12 carries. The goal line stand was one of the best in a long long long time. B+
Secondary If Bell continues to play like he does now and he doesn't get a probowl invitation it will be ridicolous, he is just the hart of the secondary having huge plays (by the way, Antonio Gates finished with 1 reception for 12 yards that did not result in a first down). They had a huge stop of Chambers at the one before the famous goal line stand. The bad news - Goodman was beaten badly on a 42 yard pass and Allen on a TD by Chris Chambers. The Chargers also had Jackson wide open on a would be 70 yard TD tieing catch but Rivers overthrew his WR. That could have changed the outcome of the game. The long balls teams continue to complete against the Dolphins troubles me. B-
Special teams San Diego's punter played very well a-v-e-r-a-g-i-n-g 56 yards a punt. Bess lost a fumble on a punt return and he doesn't run back punts very well anyway, I just don't understand why they don't let Ginn return punts. Carpenter also missed a 42 yard FG. D-
Coaching Aside from the bizzare decision letting Bess return kicks and punts instead of Ginn the team plyed very well. The wildcard formation was called 11-12 times resulting in a bout 4.5 yards a try including a TD. A nice game. B+
