Well, the Dolphin collapse of the 2000 season has started, you can almost set your calendar by it. It's the week of Thanksgiving (like last year), the Dolphins usually have 6-4, 8-2 or 7-3 record and the slide begins.
Sometimes (like in 99) their record is so good the team manages to get in the playoffs with a really bad team and an early exits usually follows. Looking at Miami's remaining 5 games it's not out of the question for this team to go 1-4 and even 0-5.
For Miami's sake we can say they played without their QB the entire game and virtually without their starting RB the entire game. Their star MLB also didn't play. They did play at home however. Huard was so bad I thought Wannstedt will insert Mike Quinn in his place.
QB -Huard completed 2 passes the rest were 2-3 yard throws and even some who went for minus yards (yes, for a QB), he did complete half of his throws for only 128 yards (he threw more then 30 passes), What killed Miami was
that he threw 3 INTs (!) and two of them gave the Jets the ball inside Miami's 30 ! resulting in the Jets only 2 TDs... F will be way too high
RB -Lamar Smith played a quarter and ran 6 times for 12 yards. JJ Johnson ran 5 times for 50. The Dolphins didn't run very well but compared to the passing game they looked like an 84' Eric Dickerson. C-
OL -The Dolphins scored 3 points, it couldn't be all Huard and the WRs, enough said. D
DL -They started OK. Armstrong got 1 sack (pushing his total to 13.5 on the season). Other then that ex-dolphin RB Bernie Parmalee scored twice on pretty long running plays. Parmalee was in his prime 6 years ago and even then he was an 800 yards a year RB. This isn't the game to remember. C+
LB -Bad news- see Parmalee. good news - Zach could be back next week although nothing is certain. D
Secondary - The only decent part of this game. Madison's name isn't called simply because QBs hust don't even look his way. Walker is having a Super year with 5 INTs to lead the Dolphins. B
Coaching -The results speak for themselves. They were dealt a bad injury situation but that's what coaches are for, getting ready for any possibility, aren't they ? D-
