Dolphins vs Patriots game Summary 10/7/01 The Dolphins opened their division games with an easy yet important win against the New England Patriots with a dominating performance by Lamar Smith. He gained over 144 yards as Miami managed to come back after Fiedler threw an early INT that led to New England's lone TD. Grading the Dolphins
QB Fiedler was below average mainly because the way Lamar was running, he didn't need to do much. He threw a very bad INT that resulted in the lone New England team. You can come back against New England but against the better teams it could cost Miami. D+ RB Lamar Smith was brilliant. He ran 29 times for 144 yards and a TD (average was 5 yards). Fiedler ran 7 times for 37 yards. Minor ran 7 times for 25 yards. A WR They didn't do much. They weren't called for. Chambers didn't get a reception for the first time this year. C+ OL They played great. Obviously when your RB get 140+ yards and the team rushes for 200. The down side was the Todd Wade injury. His status will be determined later in the week. A- DL They pretty much dominated the Pats. They got 4 sacks. A good game, no question. A LB Morlon Greenwood started and was OK. Again when the other team amazes 150 yards in total offense, they were obviously doing something good. A Secondary Brady had 78 yards passing, most of them in the last drive. No INTs again this week. A Special Teams Great game. Mare was 3 for 3 and kicked great kickoffs. Turk was great and the punt coverage team downed 2 punts inside the 5. A+ Coaching Well, a nice win for Miami. B+ |
