QB Henne had nine completions all game, n-i-n-e. That's Bob Griese numbers. The team won thanks to brilliant play by the pass defense but at some point he will have to take chances. He did have a spectacular 46 yard pass to Marshall. He finished 9 of 15 for 114 yads and a TD. C
RB Ronnie and Ricky played the worst game in recent memory. Aside from the long run by Ronnie Brown the rest was just awful. Ricky fumbled at the team's one yar line and Ronnie added another fumble when the offesnse should have put the game away. Ronnie finished with 80 yards on 13 carries that included the 51 yarder. Ricky had only 30 yards on 10 carries. D-
WR Brandon Marshall is the offense. He had 4 catches for 71 yards. Hartline had 3 for 28 and a TD. Bess only had 1 catch. As mentioned before 9 completions is just not a good day. The offense can not win with 7 points scored on the road on a consistent basis. C+
OL Jake LOng deserves an A all by himself. He is, by far, the best player on the team and should make the probowl every year. He is the best LT in football already. He dominated Jared Allen and Allen is one of the best DEs in the league. The rest of the unit did fine against the Vikings monster D-line. A-
LB KArlos Dansby saved the game with the stop on the goal line on 4th and goal. By the time this season is over every NFL fan will know who Cameron Wake is, he added another 1.5 sacks and at the begining looked unblockable. He sacked Favre for the fumble in the Vikings endzone recovered by Koa Misi for the game winning TD. A-
DL The Vikings ran at will against the Dolphins, especialy in the second half but this is Adrian Peterson we are talking about, bottom line is the Vikings scored 10 points at home. At times (4th downs) they played a solid game. B
Secondary Maybe Sparano was right. We assumed Sean Smith lost his starting position but the truth is Jason Allen won it. If Allen continues like this he won't be called a bust any longer. He had 2 INTs and another was negated by a penalty that had nothing to do with the play. Vontae Davis had a great game as well adding a pick. Just a monster game by the secondary. Favre stat line 22 of 36 for 225, 0 TDs and 3 INTs. That's a good game including Smith, Clemmons and Bell. A
Special teams The return game is stil awful but they did a fine job punting and kicking. Just an average day. C+
Coaching A second road win should merrit an A. But, I just don't get the ultra conservative play calling. I was fine with it at the end (even thought they should have run at 3rd and 3 and not pass to take time off the clock) but the play calling looked scared. I mean they had the ball at the VIkings 36, They are sacked on first doen so they have 2nd and 18 form the Vikings 44 and they call two running plays ?? What's the worst that could happen ? you knoe they are going to give you the 5-6 yard pass and Marshall can always break some tackles. If they pass twice maybe get 10 yards and move into FG range at a dome. I just thought it was conservative. But that takes nothing froma great great second road win, If they beat the Jets next week at the road opener... maybe we can start smiling on the 2010 season - and eventually the offense will show up.
