QB Jay had another bad game. He didn't even get to 150 yards, missed on long throws to wide open WRs and turned the ball over with his 5th INT of the year. He also didn't throw a TD. If you take away Miami's defensive score and the fumble recovery by McMichael, the Dolphins really scored only 10 points against a pretty bad team. D
RB As long as there is no passing offense defenses will do everything they can to stop Ricky. That leads to low averages and under 100 yards for Ricky. Ricky also lost the ball. Konrad was injured and while Ayanbadejo played well in the pass offense he fumbled the ball at the 2 yard line. This is unacceptable, the Dolphins were lucky to recover for a score. C
WR They twice had at least 5 yards on their corner and Fiedler missed them. But, Jay's play is not an excuse because there is enough blame to go round. They don't seem to get open much. Chambers is invisible the last couple of games and Thompson holds the distinction of being a 5 game starter with a grand total of 7 catches. D
OL The line is a mess with no hope on the horizon. At least Ruddy is back from injury. Dixon is still a few games away from returning. They had enough penalties for a year. They twice (!) put the offense in 1st and 30 situations. That's how bad they were. D-
LB The Dolphins survived the game without Seau. Greenwood played better, in part because of his increased playing time. Hendricks was OK as the backup. Zach was quiet for the most part of the game. When an opposing team has no running game, even with a star runner like Fred Taylor, they must have done something good. B+
DL Wow ! What a game by this unit, even without Bowens. The two reasons were Taylor and Ogunleye. Taylor recovered a fumble caused by Ogunleye and also caused fumbles of his own and he added a sack and a defelection that ended up being Zgonina's first career INT. Oguleye was the MVP of the game with 3 sacks, two late in the 4th stopping the Jags' attempt at making a comeback. Brilliant play by the line. Fred Taylor finished with under 30 yards rushing. Impressive. A+
Secondary They rank 29th in the league but that's only because they always seem to play prevent defense at the end of games. They again played very well on Sunday. Madison had 2 INTs, one of which he returned for a score. B+
Special teams Nothing special here. The return game isn't that upgraded with Rogers. The coverage units were solid and Mare connected when given the chance. B-
Coaching The team made a million penalties. The penalty yards totaled 149. This is unacceptable. The coaches should take care of that if the Dolphins stand any chance of winning against the Pats on Sunday. The offense is not playing very well and the coaching staff should find a way to fix it. The problem isn't an individual player, but the hole unit, starting with the line, the QB and the WRs. B-
