QB Pennington had a mediocre game turned below average by a horrible two minue drill (actually they had 3:11 and two timeouts). He finished with 22 of 33 for 183 yards and an INT but the stats don't tell the story. They had a huge running night, decent protection and an opportunity to win with plenty of time and he could not get the team close to winning with bizzare clock management C-
RB Wow, happy first birthday wildcat. The wildcat ran wild having more than 100 yards with an average of around 9 yards a try (and a TD). Ronnie played very very well and finished with 136 yards and 2 TDs on 24 attempts. Ricky also played very very well - 19 for 69 hard earned yards. Conns added 23, Polite 7 with 3 first downs as the team gained 239 yards rushing and controled the ball for over 45 minutes. A+
WR Another awful day for Anthony Fasano (If Martin wasn't on IR...). He ended the day with 1 catch for one yard and one dropped TD (difficult but catchable TD). A bad da
yt for all WRs not named Ginn. I mean Camarillo - 3 receptions for 11 yards ? Bess 3 for 29 ? Ginn had an up and down game catching 11 passes most of them for crucial first downs for 108 yards but he also dropped a pass and 2 very catchable TDs, one of them for the win. C
OL They played much much better than last week as the wildcat ran wild. When you run for 239 yards, even if more than 100 came from the wildcat that's still very good. B+
LB Not a very good day. Only one sack (Porter). Taylor was invisible. Wake is not active and Anderson should be although I did not see him. M F
DL The D-Line did not get to Maning at all. The Colts top two RB had 58 yards on 10 carries for a 5.8 average including a 15 yard TD by rookie Donald Brown. That's not good. D-
Secondary The CBs were OK, especailly Sean Smith. Keeping Wayne to 37 yards is impressive but giving up a 48 yard game winning TD to a guy named Garcon ?? and they share the blame for the 183 yard debacle (not to mention the missed tackles by the safeties) F
Special teams Carpenter missed from 49 but made 3 other 40+ FGs. The coverage game was better byt the return game was awful and it has nothing to do with the retuner, stop blaming Ginn, they just can not block. Cobbs wasn't any better that Ginnwas last week. Hilliard had a few nice tackles on the coverage team. D+
Coaching I liked the wilcat and the sticking to the run. But the end of the game was awful. The run on 3rd and 6 at the end instead of trying for a first down and a TD was a bad call (the only thing this offense is really good at is a 6 yard pass completion...). That's especailly true when the defense could not stop Indy. The two minute drill requires a bi-partisan investigative unit. What the hell was that ???!! Running the ball, huddling, wasting a minute to run a play ? Heck Marino was on the sidelines maybe he should teach them how it's done (never mind the passing the clock management would have been enough). It's a tough loss, a winable game. Next week will be even harder and it's a must win game right now. D
