QB Ryan Tannehill's first NFL game was tough. He has a strong arm but his rookie mistakes did hurt the team. 4 passes were batted down even though he is 6-4. 3 INTs with zero TDs on offense. He never tried to run and he threw a 3 yard pass on 4th and 8 and a 4 yard pass on third and goal from the 5... Tough game. 20 of 36 for 219 yards and 3 INTs...D
RB Reggie Bush played well and he is without a doubt Miami's only real big play player. He finished with 69 yards on 14 carries (almost 5 yards a rush). Bush is in mid season form and also added 6 receptions for 46 yards. A solid game. Daniel Thomas was injured. B
WR The Dolphins really don't have any WRs. Hartline is the only legit WR that can really make plays down the field. He missed the entire pre season and this was his first real game. He managed 3 receptions for 50 yards. Bess is a great slot WR and he was solid as always but aside from that, nothing. Nennee is still on the team for some reason (zero receptions), Armstrong looked out of sync (to be expected). D+
OL Even Jake Long gave up a penalty, Incognito gave up two and Martin added a sack. They did have some good blocks for the running game. They are not to blame if Tannehill can't get it over the D-line. C
LB They weren't bad. Even Misi made one huge play. In general they played all right especially considering Dansby and Burnett did not play at all in the pre season. C+
DL The Dolphins are deep at the position but they should put more pass rush on opposing QBs. Starks had 2 sacks but Wake didn't get to the QB and Odrick was especially quite all day. A decent day for the team's best unit. C+
Secondary You can't blame them for getting burnt by Andre Johnson, he is that good but at times they were not put in a position to make a play. It's pretty simple - never never ever leave Andre Johnson with only one defender, especially inside your own 30. C
Special teams MArcus Thigpen had an excellent 73 yard punt return TD and he usually made nice plays all day. Carpenter and Fields are good specialist. Thigpen's return is an A+ all by itself. If not for him the score would have been 30-3 ouch.. A+
Coaching The play calling was at times weird. A 3 yard pass on 4th and 8 ? At times it was way too conservative without any passes for more than 15 yards in the air. Remember this - NEVER EVER leave Andre Johnson single covered, it's that simple, he will kill you. The offense is just awful. D-
