QB Some would argue Fiedler had a pretty nice game for 58 minutes. They will be correct. But, you play football 60 minutes and Fiedler didn't throw a bad pass, that could be excuseable, he just made the worst decision ever. The Dolphins had a first and goal at the Jets 6 with more than a minute and a half left and 2 timeouts (thanks in large to Fiedler's 26 yard run). In this case you don't have to worry about time. On the contrary,
if you score on the first play you give your opponet time to tie the game with a FG. You have 4 attempts to push it in from 6 yards out. You can run the ball (or pass) and try to get it to the 2-3 yard line and take 3 chances from there, you don't need a TD. Som will say you can try twice for the endzone and on both tries you should release the ball only when you are certain of the outcome (TD or just a short completion), and if you are not 100% of the outcome just throw it away and try again. The desperate chances
are left to 3rd and 4th down. Fiedler had a million possibilities, even a sack wasn't the end of the world (you can get the yards back on 2nd down and be at the 6 yard line again with 2 more chances). There is only one bad play, and that's throwing an INT. Fiedler threw into double coverage on a play he never executed before and was intercepted. He is not the only one to blame for this loss, therre is enough blame to go around but he had the game and blew it, on a bad decision not a lack of talent. F
RB Smith had 2 fumbles at the Jets' 1 yard line and another at the Dolphins 27, the Jets took over and scored after 1 play on a 27 yard Curtis Martin TD. Minor had a nice 29 yard TD but also dropped a sure first down when the Dolphins needed it the most. But Smith had his worst day as a Dolphin. He had an average per carry of under 3 ! That's Karim Abdul Jabar type nimbers ! F
WR McKnight had one reception, and he is a starter... Gadsden was OK, Chambers was OK but also had a crucial drop, the others didn't do much. D+
OL Lamar had a 2. something yard per carry, I didn't write the number after the decimal point because does it really matter ? D-
DL The cat is begining to get out of the bag... They get tons of money and play as average. With all do respect to Jason Taylor (decent game) he has 2 sacks in 5 games that's on pace for 6.4 on the year, really he is supposed tobe a franchise player... Mixon has one. Bowens and Gardener are not really better. Bromell is also payed a million dollars. They are decent but for their salaries (Especially the DTs and Taylor) Miami should be getting Michael Stahan-Warren Sapp style play and they aren't. F
LB Curtis Martin would have encountered more resistence running alone on the moon... F
Secondary Madison was beat twice by Coles for TDs (I really liked Coles last year and now I know why) and Surtain didn't do something to write home about. F
Special teams They actually played OK. Mare is not getting chances from 48 yards and more although he has the leg for them and Turk is playing great, I really like him. Chambers looks good on kick returns. B
Coaching Can you really be any worse, If I could I would have given them an F-, what happend at halftime anyway ? F
