QB Henne is basically a rookie starter and he played as such. He had a few good throws and a few bad ones. He did not throw an INT or a TD and the WR drops did not help but it's part of the growing pains. He padded the stats at the end finishing 19 of 34 for 219 yards. C
RB Ronnie and Ricky did not play very well in very limited opportunities although Ricky had two very nice runs on back to back plays the second resulting in his 6th rushing TD of the year (7th overall). Ronnie had 48 yards on 15 rushes, he also threw a TD to Haynos on a wildcat play and Haynos dropped another sure nice completion on a perfect Ronnie throw. Pat White had a 33 yard run on an option play. Ricky had 33 yards on only 7 carrries. C
WR They are limited to say the least, tyhey dropped passes Haynos, Ginn, Hartline, everybody. Bess had 6 catches for 56 yards and Camarillo had 71 on 5 but most of that was in garbage time. D+
OL They did not block that well for the run against a banged up D-line of the Pats and the passing wasn't something to write home about. If Henne had the time Brady had he would have made even the Phins' WR catch some of his passes. C-
LB Zero pass rush on Brady, he had sometimes 5-6 seconds to throw and any QB will have 300+ yards with this kind of time, even a Dolphin QB. Porter's total tackle line for the day - zero. D
DL Again ZERO pass rush and not that good of a job stopping the run also. Starks had a (coverage) sack. You can not beat Tom Brady with no pressure, you just can not do it. D
Secondary They got burnt a few times by Moss but that is understandable, he is a top 3 WR. Sean Smith is so good people just don't throw his way much. Davis had a hige INT on the first series but got burnt a few times after that. With the time Brady had no wonder he threw for over 330 yards. They didn't play very well but consider it's Brady, they were no that bad. Smith and Davis have many many good games ahead. C-
Special teams Ginn had a nice return as New England tried to avoid him. Carpenter also delivered on a 52 yarder, nice. The coverage unit was, as usual, average. B
Coaching The decision to punt on 4th and 4 in Pats territory with over 5 minutes left down by 7 is something I can not understand. You can't really stop Brady, it's decent field position, what have you got to lose ? 30 yards ? Moss made them after 20 seconds. More than that I think they should have called a play on 3rd and 4 KNOWING they will go for it. If you do it that way you can run on 3rd and 4 and surprise them. Either you get a first or you get a 4th and short because of the surprise element. I really beleive that. D-
