QB - Fielder was 30 of 45 for 264 yards and a TD. He had a good game and managed to lead the team from behind. Huard played one play - a 7 yard completion. He did everything expected against a team that is much better than 5-11, no question. B
RB - Lamar Smith scored 2 TDs and played pretty bad (20 rushes 26 yards) with a lot of negative yardage plays Karim style. The RB played bad and scored twice, it says a lot about how far the running game came this year. D+
WR - Weaver was huge, OJ had, by far his best game of the year. Oronde and Martin played well also. A very good game with clutch catches. Denson caught some critical passes as well. B+
OL - They were OK pass wise but they were awful run wise. They did have a great drives in Miami's last 2 drives resulting in 10 points. That saved the game and the season. C
DL - Surprisingly enough, Bledsoe had time to throw. Bromell got one 1 yard sack, he really played well the last couple of weeks and he will be a free agent and I guess the team will have to make a decision on him and Owens. The Pats didn't have a running game as expected. Taylor had a game saving INT inside the Patriots' 10. B
LB - Zach got a huge INT, thanks to Jones and Rogers made an awful turned great play when New England beat him for a 59 yard pass (longest play given up all season) and he came back to strip the ball and Miami recovered for the touchback. B
Secondary - Bledsoe threw for 312 yards and 2 INTs, but, I don't think they were that bad. I have always thought that Bledsoe is a great QB, one of the best in the league and I'll take him over most QBs any time. Yes they allowed 300+ yards but it happens and they did have some nice plays. Madison is
making way too many penalties that cost the Dolphins points. D+
Special teams - Well, let's see. They returned one punt 56 yards and blocked another to give Miami the TD (Miami got the ball at the 12), they also made a 47 yard FG. On the other hand they missed 2 FGs. A 47 yarder is exuseable, but a 28 yarder ? But all that doesn't matter, Mare won the game and the division with a 49 yarder in the last seconds and that's what matters. B
Coaching - Yes, Miami won. Yes they won the division. That merits an A all by itself, but, I just don't understand the play calling, Kicking an onside kick when your offense can't make a 1st down and the defense plays bad and then punting in 4th and inches at the opponets 35 ? B
Officials - What the hell was that ? The teams were in the locker rooms a good half an hour after the game, the players showered and the officials called the players for another 3 seconds (hail mary pass failed). I guess when Florida is involved it's never over, Al Gore doesn't get a fair recount and a 5-11 New England Patriots team does ? What if the hail merry results in a TD and Miami misses the playoffs ?
